During his time at Gibson, Ren talked Gibson Corporate into allowing him to built some archtops. Ren's goal, as I understand it, was to convince corporate to allow them to build all of the archtop models at the Bozeman factory. Ren ended up building only a few archtops, and this is one of the finest of them! He hand carved the body himself.
His signature is inlaid in pearl, along with the serial number, inside the f-holes. The Master Museum series is the finest Gibson has ever offered. The series had to be discontinued when Ren retired in 2012 so you don't see these guitars being built anymore. He built some amazing guitars during his tenure at Gibson, including one for Johnny Depp in a Pirates of the Caribbean theme. All in all, there were not many Master Museum series guitars built. Ren built them all by hand, so they were very limited in production. The guitar features some very intricate inlays, as well as a relief-carved vine on the neck heel. Some of the finest figured koa was used for the back and sides, with a fine Sitka spruce top.
The guitar is in excellent condition. Included with the guitar is the original hardshell case.
